I have a 97 coupe. I replaced my throttle body 7 months ago with 77k miles. I now have 84k and I am experiencing the same symptoms as before, Intermittent power loss with NO corresponding failure codes. It feels like something is cutting off the fuel flow to the engine when accelerating. My biggest concern is it is intermittent. I can start the car one time and it will run perfect until I shut it down and start it later. Then it will sometimes be a small loss of power, enough to milk through until I get to operating RPM. Other times it will be so severe that I can barely make it through a turn.
I am being told by a good friend who is building a 1200hp Mustang from scratch that it may be an over-arching plug wire or bad wires all together, and that I should go to Advanced Auto Parts or someplace comparable to get a diagnosis. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks.

I m not sure if Advanced Auto Parts can help you. They work at a parts store for a reason! If you think you have bad plug wires it may be time to change them. This way you can eliminate that potential problem. Since you are changing the plugs change the air filter also. You have the right idea of the basics to find the problem. Fuel, Air and Spark is what I m talking about. It almost sounds like you have a fuel pump going bad or a restriction in the system. You could hook up a high pressure fuel gauge and drive around until the problem arises and check the pressure during the fault. It will be a challenge to locate the gauge in sight while you drive but I believe this will be key to locating your problem. The fuel pressure should be about 58-60 psi at all times! if it drops to anything below that you have a faulty pump or fuel system. The next thing I would check for is an intake leak. These are a little harder to find. You may have to remove the TB again and inspect the gasket. I know personally how hard this problem is to fix! I also have a 97 as our project car and had the same problem! Ours ended up being a cracked intake manifold. It didnt do it in the video but it did it on the ride home! This is the video where it decided to rear its ugly head. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uETsXq2AAFA&feature=player_profilepage

Thank you for the info. I had been doing to driving recently and I encountered it quite severely. I had already replaced my fuel filter and was wondering if it might be electronic. I know this sounds dumb, but when the power loss was encountered, I turned off the engine and then turned it back on. Everything purred like a kitten after that. I've had to do it twice with the same results.
I plan on going to get a digital diagnosis next week. Wish me luck.

I'm very interested in finding out what it could be also. 03' Z06 doing the same things. Intermittent power loss. Loss of power with nothing to give it away. Won't break loose even in first gear. All of a sudden I get back in after a break and tires are frying again as normal in 1st and 2nd. Nice to know how much power you are gonna get before you step on the pedal ya know? Also have an intermittent no start issue which I believe is the solenoid.

So far I replaced all spark plugs and wires, replaced two tire pressure sensors. The Corvette mechanic stated that there were codes indicating 0 pressure and the computer would shut off the engine in response to that. Then I replaced my Gas pedal and Throttle position sensor. Nothing. the Mech. is at a loss as well as I.
